Express Yourself With Gratitude!

Get Happy!, Inspired Articles, Lifestyle, Writing

The other day as I was driving home from work, I saw a billboard that read, “What are YOU thankful for today?” That got me thinking “had I expressed gratitude for anything that day” I had definitely talked about my car troubles and spilling my entire tea in the Starbucks parking lot, but I had yet to give thanks for the many things that made me happy that day.

Consciously expressing gratitude causes your brain focus on the positive things in your daily life. They may be little things, like a stranger complimenting your dress or a work project that went well, but even the smallest things can make us happier! When you get into a habit of saying thanks, you’ll find yourself becoming more naturally optimistic. Looking at the world through optimistic eyes has a profound effect on your day-to-day happiness and really lift your spirits!

Unsure of where to begin? Here are 3 ways you can express your gratitude:

– Write it down in a journal every night (this is what I’ve started doing and I like going back and looking at everything I have to be thankful for)

– Pray or give silent thanks to the universe

– Make it a daily discussion with friends or family

This routine can be especially helpful when you’ve had a less than stellar day because it can help remind you that there are always things to be thankful for. Not only will it increase happiness, it will increase overall life satisfaction too!2
