Letting Go, Even of the Blog Post

Letting Go, Even of the Blog Post

It's been nine days since "Let Go" went live, and I still hadn't written this reflection. It kept coming up: do I or don't I write it? I recognized that this is the lesson, playing out in real time. I let go so much of what I thought I had to do after the episode that I dropped the notion entirely. Yay for me.

In the episode, I talked about learning to let go of needing to know the outcome. I didn't know when this post would get written. I just knew if I felt like it, I'd write it. As I sit on a daybed in the Maldives, the day after recording Episode 24 (which will be live on July 23rd), I thought I'd catch you up now. Letting go can mean many different things. It could be letting go of the life you planned in your mind. Letting go of the relationship you thought would last forever. For me, it's a lot of different things, and they are all coming up at the same time, though one could say I've been planning for this all along.

We put so much pressure on ourselves to keep pace, to publish on schedule, to always be moving. But sometimes the most honest thing we can do is trust an intuitive process rather than force it. Nine days of silence is a milestone, not proof I "have to do" anything. It is only me who says I'm in a hurry, when in actuality, no one is pressuring me to do anything. I was the one who said I'd write reflection posts; no one told me to do it. Same thing with the podcast; no one said I had to do it, I just felt like being expressed in more than writing. So, here we are, darlings. Be committed to being yourself. (I wrote this as a bumble bee is zipping by.)

What are you ready to let go of?

See you soon.
