The Art of Being You

The Art of Being You

Yesterday morning, as I prepared to record my latest episode of The Wisdom Channel™, I noticed a tiny bird with a yellow belly tucked inside the drainage hole on my balcony, more than twenty stories above the ground. It stayed there all morning, quietly watching while I spoke about authenticity and the art of being yourself.

Toward the end of the recording, it fluttered out and began testing its wings. It hit the glass a few times, confused by reflection and light, then rested for hours on my lanai chair. I didn’t interfere. I did call Wildlife Services to make sure it wasn’t injured. I held space and trusted that it would find its way. By sunset, it did.

That moment reflected much of what I had shared on the show.

Throughout the episode, I spoke about how we are each artists of our own lives. No two canvases are alike, and the colors we choose evolve as we do. I talked about learning to love ourselves enough to paint truthfully, even when others add their own colors to our story.

And I shared honestly about my own lessons in love. How I once confused connection with alignment. I have never betrayed a partner, yet I have been in relationships that were not built on full integrity. Some of those experiences involved loving men who were not fully free. Those moments taught me what it means to live in honesty, both with myself and others.

Each episode is guided. I trust what comes through. This month’s theme was Authenticity, and this second episode of the month aligned with a moment of release. I shared mistakes I made and offered apologies where needed. My life has not been made of only shiny happy moments, and ease. Yet authenticity helps us heal. Awareness opens the door. Speaking truth is liberating. Much of what I shared surprised even me. It was unscripted, unexpected, and real.

In the early morning before recording, I cried and didn’t know why. Then the bird appeared. A gift, I thought. Then the release came. For both of us.

We often override our intuition to avoid discomfort or to stay in the familiar. We may merge with others’ paths until we remember our own. It is not wrong to find your way. It is human. I am simply inviting you to look inward and see what no longer fits. Like cleaning a closet. When you finally remove what is heavy, and no longer fits, you feel lighter. Freer. More yourself.

Watching that little bird reminded me that love is not about rescuing or controlling outcomes. It is about creating safe space for healing and trusting timing. Sometimes the greatest act of love is simply to stay present while another being, or another version of ourselves, remembers how to fly again.

So whether you are repainting your canvas, composing a new song for your life, or finding your wings after a hard landing, may you remember this:

You are a masterpiece in motion.
Your timing is divine.
And love, when held with presence, always finds its way home.

I love you.
And I want the best for you.
