The Heart of the Matter

The Heart of the Matter

When I recorded the podcast, "The Truth Is Our Freedom," I did not know I was going to voice my requirements for a partner. It's funny how these things come out while I'm recording. I want it to be perfect, but it's never how it lands. And I didn't want to edit too much of the episode, so it is all what it needed to be.

Still, the theme running through is that when we keep the truth to ourselves, nobody wins. It weighs on our hearts, and we'll either expect someone else to fulfill our wishes, or we'll keep it bottled up inside. Our bodies keep score. Our hearts can't align. We act in opposition to what we want, and sometimes what we need, and we might even be projecting onto another what we need instead of taking accountability.

So, to further be clear about my truth, life hasn't been an easy road for me. And while I won't share much of it on the podcast, what I can share with you is what I've learned. How I've grown. That I'm proud of myself for how I've overcome situations where I felt disrespected, or neglected. How I truly have had to find my way to happiness and live out the teachings in my own book. I have my moments too. It's a constant evolution. I've had depression, anger, and been hard on myself for how my body looks, or feeling like I made the wrong choices in life. Yet, every day I wake up, I feel so grateful. Another day to learn, or maybe just to rest and not prove anything, too. We are constantly being bombarded with differences, changes, what's right or wrong, how to eat, how to be, how to compete, to be jealous of another's success.

And that's not who we are. We are individual beings with unique paths of learning to love ourselves. That's all. Everything else is just noise. Distractions. Finding your way to happiness is finding your way back to your heart.

If you want to date me, here's what didn't make it into the episode:

If you're ambitious, I'm attracted to someone building something meaningful, creative and beautiful that leaves something kind for humanity.

What "doing your homework and work" really means: don't just skim over the lessons and stay a victim. Be self-aware and take responsibility for your choices. As for homework with me, do you understand what it is I do and how I show up in the world? Does that align for you?

On height: I'm 5'10", please be my height or taller. Preferably taller.

On health and being fit: I am naturally thin, and post-menopause, so some of my body is softer than what it was. I like to walk and do yoga and Pilates at times, but I am not in the gym all the time. I am learning to appreciate the changes my body has made, and figure out how to best support it so I can feel good, all the time.

For your fitness, please be kind with your body as well. Have something that works for you that cares and supports your well-being. Be attentive to what you feed your body and mind. Someone unfit can get in shape, and someone fit can let themselves go. It's a state of care, not a static look.

I don't drink coffee, or caffeinated drinks, and prefer to rest when my body is tired. I like being in nature, preferably warm tropical locations with a turquoise sea nearby.

Kids: I don't have any, and I prefer someone that if they have kids, they are grown, or above 12 years young.

Life is more fun when we share it with others, and yet, being comfortable in our own energy is equally a wonderful trait to have. A nice place to be in life to recognize we don't need another to be happy. That's where I'm at. Happy and grateful to be brave enough to still travel the world alone and take myself on dates, and be open to sharing time and fun with others when we can match that in a supportive, respectful and equally generous way.

Honor your truth. Stop settling. Your heart knows the way.
